Chinese New Year is around the corner (1 week away). These few days have been busy shopping for CNY with mom. And the next few days will be cleaning the house and clearing unwanted clothes.

Two days ago, I went Chinatown to get bed sheets and curtains with my mom and aunt. As usual, during this period of time, the streets of Chinatown are nicely decorated and everywhere is playing CNY songs. Everywhere is crowded in Chinatown, the money changer, bak kwa shops and streets with many road stalls. The road stalls sell CNY decorations and goodies. Besides buying you there are many samples for people to taste. ;)

My list of Top 5 CNY food

1. Mandarin oranges – the small ones are sweeter and juiciest
2. Pineapple tarts – Biscuit with rich butter and milk taste + not too sweet pineapple filling!
3. Yu Sheng – A light dish with appetizing sauce, crackers are a must!
4. Bak kwa - But usually, during CNY the bak kwa are thicker as demand is higher
5. Almond cookies

Today is my younger brother’s 18th birthday. He has grown up and has his own life, this year instead of celebrating with the family he is celebrating with his friends at chalet. Anw, hopes he enjoys himself and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Finally had a trim at Bishan today. It was my first time there and I’m glad with how my hair turned out. As I was considering to perm my hair, I seeked some professional advice from the hairstylist and being nice she helped me do a temporary perm for free. LOL. And I look …. mature. (according to my friends) Now I’m having second thoughts about perming my hair.

Leaving the salon, my friends and I went on a shopping spree at Bishan Junction 8. Everywhere is having post-christmas sales, it’s very tempting to buy and buy. My friend for instant couldn’t stop buying and end up buying alot. I bought a dress too.

Definately a great day, except that I still haven’t visit the doctor.   

Again, it’s been awhile since I wrote.

A piece of good news to share – I’ve graduated!

Although my GPA is not good, I’m still glad I’ve graduated.  However, I’m sad my mom thinks otherwise. She likes to compare me with others and she is never satisfied. Just this morning, she bought up this issue again and I rebuted. She flared up and caused our(her, my brother and mine) mood to sink and stink. The quarrel affected my plans to catch a movie with a friend.

This just reminds me that I need to get a job quickly so that I can move out of the house. I think such quarrels/ fights are unavoidable/ cannot be helped as long as we stay under one roof. My mom is a very dominant person, whatever/ whoever goes against her wish no matter right or wrong is just wrong. Although I know her unresonable character, I can’t stand it!

& Speaking of jobs, I’m still quite unsure what I want. Should I just go into teaching straight or should I do some other work (mechandiser/ events) first. It frightens me to see that many of the job requires experience and I have none. At the moment, my future seems bleak.

Side-note: Just came back 2 weeks ago, from Korea. It was a graduation trip. It was an awesome trip, my first time experiencing winter and snow. Then yesterday, a short trip to Johor Bahru with my old friends. It was so great: eating, singing and shopping.

I came back on Sunday evening from my Batam short getaway, it was amazing! We stayed at Holiday Inn Hotel. The suite was awesome, it has almost everthing, including iron and cotton wool, and it’s bed and pillow are soft and comfortable. It was pity the weather wasn’t on our side, it rained on both days. We have to cancel our plans to play water sports. My greatest regret was not being able to try out parasailing.

Instead, we did spa, manicure and pedicure, suana, swam, ate seafood at the famous 933 restaurant and played bang in the hotel. The only thing we bought there was Indomie Mi Goreng (instant noodles). It cost only SGD 0.20/ packet and I should have bought more. :O

All of us wanted to stay longer but some of us have work on Monday so we could only leave unwillingly. This is the 2nd overseas trip (1st was Cameron Highlands) I had with this group of fun travel buddies. We had taken bus and boat, next we shall take plane …. to Thailand perhaps? ;)

This is a busy yet fun-filled week. On Monday,went shopping with friends. I bought a malachite green bandage skirt and a hot pink bikini. It was a steal, we got discounts for buying more!  In the evening, Alvina joined us for dinner at Ah Loy Thai (Shaw Tower). The foods are nice and affordable. We ordered a table of foods. My favourites are Pad Thai and Pandan Leaf Chicken.

I finished 3 rented movies yesterday and today. I prefer the Don’t Break My Heart and Ghost more. Now, I’m repeating Ghost MV on my computer.  

The week started well for me.

Monday – procrastinated the whole day, enjoyed mom’s home-cooked food. I feel so blessed eating the food she prepared. She’s an awesome cook (but she only cooks chinese cuisines).  Menu of the day: Brunch - bittergourd and steam pomfret, Dinner - Broccoli and melon soup. And to complete the day …. durian for desserts.

Tuesday - cycling trip at East Coast Park with my sister and her friends. Weather was great for cycling! We cycled 3 hours from one end to the other. As a result, we had butt-aches. I was surprised to see Jun Yi while cycling there (I have sharp eyes and no evil can escape from it, lol). After cycling, we made our way to Old Airport Road for dinner. 

Finally got to tried the famous soya beancurd there (Lao Ban), we tried both the original and the almond one. We all preferred the almond one, it taste like almond jelly but it’s much softer and has soya taste. :d We also got treated to a bowl of (sample) the original flavoured soya beancurd from QQ. I think it’s orignal is better than the previous. The soyabean taste was stronger and it taste more similar to the usual soya beancurd. The previous one tasted sweeter and has lesser soyabean taste. TRY IT and share which one you like more!

We also went on to try the other famous stalls there – char kway teow, prawn noodles and wanton noodles. There are still a lot of stalls and food we want to try but we were all too full. Gna visit the place and try the other local delights again, it’s a food paradise!

Today - woke up to watch City Hunter. I am more and more addicted to the drama. Just finished watching episode 17. It’s my favourite episode so far. It was surprising and exciting. Many things were unexpected by me. And towards the end of the episode and preview of the next episode my heart raced. HAHA. I see resemblance of Lee Min Ho role in this drama and his role in Boys over flowers. How they treat the female leads/girls in the drama and how they go against someone to protect their love ones. PEREMPTORY!                   

I’ve decided to blog as often as possible while I’m free this holiday. Everyday is busy but fun and interesting. Yesterday did some shopping with girlfriends. Bought a bag on sale for $16, great deal! I love it very much, it’s my first orange bag. It’s small though, can’t pack much things in it. There was another bag which I like but it was $25 so I struggled. Don’t think I should get 2 bags at one go. Also bought a coral top from topshop. It is a bit big but I think it looks nice baggy.

Later I’m catching Harry Potter with my friends. So eggcited already!  The long series of movie is finally coming to an end.

Another hectic week, been going out everyday and spending a lot. I think I’ve/ I’ll overspent this month. OMG   

Days and days of dragging, I’ve finally gotten a hair cut. Not much changes just shorter and thinner. The temperature is really horrible lately, making me want to cut short my hair, and I mean real short. But I’m still thinking cause I’m scare I’ll regret if I cut impulsively. So, I better hide at home or in air-conditioned places for the time being. While at home I can also enjoy shows on television and laptop. Currently watching City Hunter by Lee Min Ho and Park Min Young. It’s awesome! My recommendation for people who like action and romance drama. Even my guys friends are watching it. Korean dramas are no longer a girl thing. ;) 

Yesterday, I had dinner with friends at this great dining place, Medz. It is located at basement 2 of Orchard Central. It is similar to Marche but more affordable. The food is nice, I recommend Paella (Spain rice) and the cookie and cream shake (although I did not try it myself, my friends who tried it said it wasn’t too thick and sweet, just nice). 

Now, I got to prepare to go out and splurge again. I need self-control. :\

It was an awesome week for me!

On Monday, I went back to Singapore Polytechnic (SP) for lunch with Eugene Teo and Zong Sheng. We all had muslim food. I ordered sweet chilli fish with rice and it tasted as delicious as before. :d Yummy!!! After lunch, we walked around the campus. The campus had changed quite alot since my last visit (graduation day). Everything seems new to me, there’s Starbucks Coffee, Subway, another McDonald’s and many more. I was filled with surprises and I missed my poly days much. I want to go SP to have lunch again before school reopens. There’s a list long of food I was to eat but my stomach is only that big.

In the afternoon, Jun Yo joined us in town to watch Transformers. The movie was ok - Shia Lebeouf, hot chick (Rosie Huntington) and the robots (super cool). Just find it a little long and I yawned 3 times watching it. I like the cool cars in the show most, wished I owe one! HAHAHA 

In the evening, met girlfriends for dinner at Pasta De Waraku, Heeren. It was a belated birthday celebration for our dear girl (Li Ching). Eat, chat, snap at the restaurant. Was glad that she liked her presents (a bag and a Mac foundation). After dinner, we walked and shopped around orchard. We visited the food fair at Takashimaya’s basement. Despite being full, I bought a scoop of udders durian ice-cream. There’s always room for desserts, well said! HAHA.

Last stop of the day was at Toa Payoh McDonalds. It is our favourite hang out place, as we often sit there and chat till midnight, catching the last bus home.

On Tuesday, went on a 4D3N Malaysia trip with mom, sister and their friends. We took 8 hours coach ride to genting and managed to check in in the afternoon. Did nothing much that day, we had buffet dinner at a restaurant and shopped around.

Day 2 and 3, we took bus down to Kuala Lumpur’s Chinatown to eat and shop. It was a pity the porridge stall I visited when I was young closed, heard that the uncle had retired. Also, heard the candy uncle moved elsewhere too. Nevertheless, I got to eat delicious roasted duck, porridge, mua chee and many more good food. Totally forgot about dieting. :\ I recommend you See Ngan Chye Roasted Duck from KL’s Chinatown, it’s myour favourite! :D

I’m glad to be back home but I missed Genting weather. It was super cooling that I never sweat there even when I do sit up at night in the hotel. KL’s weather was insane one day it was hot the other it was raining heavily. My sister’s friend said I got tanner after a day at KL. HAHAHA

Saturday and Sunday was peaceful – tuition,housework and television. Slacked around the house and got nagged by my mom. :x

p.s: I’m looking forward to the coming week - shopping, movie (Harry Potter) and steamboat. I also want to cycle and ice skate if possible.
